Felipe Lopez is expected to sign a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, so assuming that deal does occur, the 2011 draft order has been finalized. With three first-round picks, seven sandwich round picks and two second rounders, the Rays are going to be very busy on draft day.
Updated: 2/2/11: According to reports, Felipe Lopez is going to sign a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, meaning the Red Sox would not receive a compensatory pick for Lopez even if he makes the Rays' big-league roster come opening day. Nice block by the Rays.
The 2010 regular season is over, and the Pittsburgh Pirates will have the dubious honor of selecting first overall next June. It will mark the third time doing so since the last time they had a winning season in 1992. Three unsigned 2010 first rounders will garner three compensatory picks, pushing the first round to 33 picks.
