Analyzing Amateur Baseball Talent as it pertains to the MLB Draft

Top 10 2010 Middle Infield Prospects

Shortstop is one position that has some intriguing talent for this year's draft. Amateur shortstops often move to other positions, but this year both the college and high school ranks offer a exciting talent that should stick at the position.

Manny Machado is a potential five-tool shortstop that makes the position look easy. He has plenty of range and arm strength, as well as budding power at the plate.

Cal State Fullerton's Christian Colon has been the team's sparkplug and captain since arriving on campus. He doesn't have flashy tools, but he makes up for that with an aggressive, hustling and competitive approach to the game.

Yordy Cabrera and Justin O'Conner may play other positions down the road, if they're not drafted and developed as pitchers. Derek Dietrich also is more likely to settle in at either third or second base, while Tony Wolters is a prep clone of Colon.
